The 1927 Double Eagle Saint Gaudens is a $20 gold coin featuring the iconic design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The obverse portrays Lady Liberty striding forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, while the reverse depicts a majestic eagle in flight, symbolizing strength and freedom.
Graded NGC MS-61, this coin is in Mint State condition, meaning it has not been heavily circulated but may show light imperfections such as contact marks, surface scratches, or small signs of handling typical for coins in this grade. MS-61 coins retain much of their original luster but have minor flaws or surface blemishes that prevent them from achieving a higher grade.
The 1927 Double Eagle is one of the more widely collected issues in the Saint Gaudens series. While it is more common than some other dates in the series, it remains highly desirable due to its beautiful design, historical significance, and gold content. The MS-61 grade offers collectors an opportunity to own a well-preserved example of this important U.S. gold coin at a more affordable price point than higher-grade specimens.
